In every strong community, there are a few individuals whose steady generosity, tireless work ethic, and genuine compassion leave a lasting mark. Scott Schramm is one of those people.
Through his leadership and creative force behind the FLoatarama organization, Scott — alongside his husband Roderick — has helped build more than events; he has helped build unity, visibility, and pride.
Today, as he faces a serious health challenge, our community has an opportunity — and a responsibility — to stand beside him with the same strength he has always shown others.
For years, Scott has been a cornerstone of community celebration and outreach. What many people see as vibrant, joyful, and flawlessly executed FLoatarama productions are actually the result of months of planning, coordination, fundraising, volunteer leadership, and behind-the-scenes problem-solving. Scott has consistently given his time, talent, and energy not for recognition, but for impact. He believes in bringing people together and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and represented.
Those who know Scott personally understand that his commitment runs deep. He is known for being hands-on, dependable, and solutions-focused. He steps forward when work needs to be done and encourages others when challenges arise. His leadership style is grounded in humility and action — lifting others up and keeping momentum going even under pressure. That kind of dedication strengthens the fabric of a community.
In mid-December, Scott was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare and serious neurological disorder that requires intensive therapy and determined rehabilitation. Since then, he has approached recovery the same way he approaches service — with persistence, courage, and focus. He has been working hard in daily rehabilitation and making meaningful progress. However, his inpatient rehab coverage is ending, and the level of therapy covered afterward will be significantly reduced.
Continued intensive treatment is critical to restoring his strength, mobility, and independence.
This is where community becomes more than a word — it becomes action. Support for Scott will help provide continued therapy and necessary medical equipment so his recovery does not slow due to financial limits. It ensures that determination is matched with opportunity.
Scott and Roderick have given so much of themselves to others over the years. Now it is our turn to give back with gratitude and heart. Every contribution, every share, and every word of encouragement matters.
