In our 20s, deciding between Absolute and Stoli can be among the biggest choices we face. We do our due diligence to see which is best for us and move on.
As we get older, there are many more consequential choices to be researched and decided.
Which doctor is good for me as a member of the LGBTQ community? How do I choose a specialist? Which pharmacy should I choose?
Add in insurance and Medicare/Medicaid questions, and it can quickly become confusing.
Help has arrived.
Saturday, Oct. 19, The Pride Center at Equality Park will host the 15th annual Active Aging Expo.
“It’s a one-stop shop to know who the LGBTQ-competent providers of goods and services are,” Bruce Williams, The Pride Center’s Active Aging Manager, said.
Sixty or more service providers, ranging from long-term care agencies to the venerable AARP, to Our Fund Foundation will be there to answer questions and explain options.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Pride Center. The first 400 attendees will get lunch, which is scheduled to include ham and turkey sandwiches, fruit cups, and a drink.

When I was preparing to move to South Florida from Chicago a decade ago, I was worried that I’d miss the rich theatre scene.
I apologize for being such a northern snob. Of course, after living here just a few months, I discovered just how rich and varied our theatre scene is down here, and I don’t have to trudge through the snow to see it, so it’s even better!

Meet Bronson (ID 689028), a 2-year-old fellow who was evacuated from a shelter before hurricane Helene.
Bronson is one of the sweetest, cuddliest dogs, and he wants a family that is going to spoil him and show him what it is like to be loved. At 60-pounds, he certainly isn’t the smallest dog, but he has so much love to share.

InTarotGate by Dooney
FULL MOON IN TAURUS: slow down and trust your intuition before acting.
You have been through a lot together and lately you wonder if it is worth all the effort, especially with those wounds you still carry. In your internal night sky, you cannot find the lucky star that first made you fall in love. You feel hopeless, disconnected, and unwilling to open up to your partner(s). Shift your perspective: take a look at your relationship as if from a high place; you will notice a soft light shining on everything. It is your star, not dimmed but simply unattended and still worth fighting for. Find peaceful moments and spaces with your partner(s) to consider what brought you together, away from the city, letting starlight conjure your origin stories and remind you of the magic that you thought you had forgotten.
