Drag Icons Taking Stage at Reverse Quinceañera in Wilton Manors

Glitz, glamour, and over-the-top camp take over Wilton Manors this weekend as Julian’s Fountain of Youth/Wilton Collective holds its annual Reverse Quinceañera.
The 13th installment of the event is bringing some of South Florida’s most entertaining and dramatic drag queens.
The lineup of icons includes Nikki Adams, Electra, Tiffany Arieagus, Kitty Meow, Cathy Craig, Melissa St. John, Erika Norelle, Daisy Deadpetals and TP Lords.
JFOY’s leader, Julian Cavazos, says this is a last chance, must see show.
“This will be the last time these amazing icons will perform together on one stage, since Electra and Cathy Craig will be retiring. So expect a show of a lifetime with these nine greats on one stage.”
Cavazos says that, unlike in past years, there will not be the crowning of a new Ms. Reverse Quinceañera, opting instead to fête Florida’s Grand Damas of Drag.
The event got its name when Cavazos was turning 51. Realizing that is the “reverse” quinceañera ago of 15, he decided to have some fun and created this fundraiser that benefits his foundation’s work with local LGBTQ youth.
The night is being held at The Venue with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be a Mexican buffet with arroz con pollo (chicken and rice), ropa vieja (shredded beef) black beans and rice and maduros (fried sweet plantains).
General admission tickets start at $55.

Stonewall's Success is the City’s Success | LETTER
|
I want to update residents on the city's investment in Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride and the positive return it generated.
As I mentioned in my letter to the editor about this year’s budget challenges, I believe you can't "cut your way to greatness." Strategic investment often yields the greatest rewards. Canceling Stonewall due to lack of financial support would have been shortsighted and bad for our community.

Looking for a great dog to add to your family? If so, Roxy might be the perfect fit.
After having a home her entire life, Roxy was given up when her family moved and didn't take her along. This gal is a 6-year-old, cattle dog mix who is very sweet. She recently went on an outing with one of the shelter volunteers who only had great things to say about her. “Roxy is a good travel partner, loves to sniff everything and take in her new surroundings. She is affectionate, gives kisses and is dog friendly - she is not a fan of felines. Roxy enjoys playing fetch, walks great on a leash and is potty-trained.” This 43-pound beauty may not be the youngest dog at the shelter, but she has a lot of love to share with you.
