Mayor Newton Gets Challenger in Election

Forget elections for president, senator, and others. The real action and intrigue happen at the local levels, and Wilton Manors is no exception. Races for two city commission seats and the mayor’s office are up this year, and candidates are announcing their plans.
Local realtor Mike Sansevero has filed to run for mayor.
“This city has had a lot of issues building up: aging infrastructure, a lack of development and increase of the tax base,” he said shortly after filing.
His background includes being an attorney in New York and working as an actuary for an insurance company. Sansevero says he was valedictorian of his law class and practiced merger and acquisition law. He began visiting Wilton Manors in 2005, bought a condo, then became a full-time Wilton resident in 2010.
Sansevero served on the city’s Community Affairs Advisory Board (CAAB) for four years, three as chairman. Last year, the current commission declined to reappoint him for another term. He continues to be very active in local programs, including the burgeoning arts scene.
Incumbent Mayor Scott Newton exclusively told OutSFL that he plans to seek another term. In Sansevero, he has a challenger.
“We’re playing catchup on improving infrastructure and growth. Scott Newton wasn’t responsive to code revisions,” Sansevero said. “You have to curate businesses and attract them, especially the kind we’re missing from our economic mosaic.”

As we move away from the air of romance of Valentine’s Day a week ago, the reversed Lovers ask us to evaluate our connection with our loved one(s) and our ability to see in one another a mirror of ourselves as well as we mirror them. There’s always room for improvement and a little introspection can bring down The Tower’s lightning bolt of epiphany, shedding light on that one aspect of our relationship that we had completely missed. It might bring discomfort and doubt of the reversed Star at first, but hang in there as you find each other’s vulnerable selves and thus find liberation from toxic patterns of behavior and thoughts that you had not even noticed.
