Alfredo Olvera to Represent The Pride Center at Men of Style Event Nov. 30

Why choose between substance and style when you can have both? The two collide once again at the annual Galleria Fort Lauderdale’s BBX Capital Men of Style.


The event features 12 very stylish men from South Florida stylin’ and profilin’, each for a personal cause. One of this year’s contestants is Alfredo Olvera, a state committeeman for Broward County Democrats and former president of the Dolphin Dems.


He will be representing The Pride Center.


“The Pride Center does so much for the LGBTQ+ community in Broward County, and this year we are celebrating 30 years of service,” he said. “We provide a welcoming, safe space, an inclusive home to everyone in the LGBTQ+ community and our allies. Our dedication creates a positive impact in the lives of the people we serve. So for me, it is such an honor to have been selected to represent The Pride Center at this event.”


Presented by Signature Grand and CAN Community Health, the event raises lots of money for community events. Last year they set the record of $310,000 for 12 organizations.


Olvera, who is the Director of the Board at Pride Center as well as a realtor, is always perfectly dressed for every occasion. Whether it’s shorts and a cool shirt for a day of voter registration or a formal gala, his style is always on point.

WED: Thankswigging

Prepare for Thanksgiving with a full spread of delectable draft beers in the Funky Buddha taproom, with suds like Sweet Potato Casserole, Berries & Queens Tart Ale, No Crusts PB&J Brown Ale, and more. Radio Active Records will also be spinning a vinyl DJ set.

FRI: Annual Community Bear Drive

Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida and the Bears of South Florida are kicking off the holiday season at Hunter's in Wilton Manors to collect new teddy bears and donations for pediatric care at the Salah Foundation Children's Hospital at Broward Health. 


SAT: Small Business Saturday Market

Support local small businesses and shop for the holidays at this annual market in Oakland Park, hosted by The Wander Shop, Rehaus, and the city of Oakland Park.


SUN: FlockFest Turkey Splash

A "turkey edition" of the poolside t-dance at The Easton, with music by DJ Miguel Clark, live percussionist Angel Emilio, and hosted by Priince Triila.


MON: Full Moon Gentle Beach Yoga and Meditation

Join a full moon Hatha yoga flow with Ceci Lester on Fort Lauderdale Beach with mantras, music, and meditation. Each participant will receive a health crystal, and a sea shell to release.
