One man is dead, and his killer is on the loose after a brutal shooting in Wilton Manors. Wilton Manors Police Department (WMPD) and Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) are investigating Sunday evening’s shooting at 501 NW 28th Court.

A 44-year-old man was found unresponsive when WMPD arrived at the scene. He was rushed to the hospital, but efforts to save his life were in vain. The victim was identified as Arland Cata.

WMPD Chief Gary Blocker said the department has increased patrols in the neighborhood and more.

“We are holding our patrol briefings on NW 28th Court to restore the sense of safety to the residents impacted. And we will continue to support them and our community at large, so they know that violent crime has no comfort here.”

The killing happened at a vacation rental. Although the vacation rental is licensed, it was cited in July for several code violations, one of which was the tenant running an illegal business before being shot.

Police said the owner was ambivalent.

If you have reached the end of an endeavor or relationship, the reversed Devil says it’s time to accept that this is the final stop on this particular journey. You might be attached to the predictability of a process or the comfort of a routine, blind to the fact that it’s time to pass on the torch and close this chapter. The reversed Ten of Wands is your final bow, clearing your plate—or your heart space—to make room for an exciting, new start. With the healthy boundaries of the Queen of Swords, you will separate what was from what will be with the sharpness of mind that knows that in every ending lie the seeds of a new beginning.
